Poetry is a tool to connect with life. I started writing poetry after a trauma I experienced. Years later, I realized that I was holding onto life again with poetry, and I understood the importance of poetry in my life. Poetry was my whispers both to myself and to the outside, it was pleasure, sadness, joy, gratitude and love. Those whispers still continue, accompanied by the music I love. I was born in Izmir, but my ancestors come from the Mungan tribe of Mardin. My heart beats for both Mardin and Izmir. I am a retired teacher, a poet, and a columnist. I still live in Izmir.
